User Choices Policy

MyAFBase is a local-first community app. You control your data. This User Choices Policy explains how to manage local storage, iCloud sync (iOS), location, notifications, and optional feedback. The same rules apply on iOS and Android. MyAFBase is available on the App Store and Google Play (package com.ryanladuca.myafbase).

I. Managing Your Local Data

Assignment details, pay calendar, PCS checklists, and WAR Tracker stay on your device (and on your personal iCloud if you enable that on Apple devices). There is no required account.

Manual Erasure: You can delete all locally stored data at any time. Simply delete the MyAFBase application from your iOS/iPadOS or Android device. This action automatically deletes all local databases associated with the App.
In-App Reset: You may also wipe your WAR Tracker entries, entry history, and checklists through the reset features within the App's settings menu.

Base maps and unofficial listed hours may update over the network. Those remote files are not cryptographically verified and are not live Security Forces status. Location is optional.

II. Controlling Syncing & Backups (iCloud — iOS only)

On Apple devices, MyAFBase may utilize Apple's iCloud to sync your checklists and personal logs across your authorized Apple devices (e.g., iPhone to iPad). The Android app stores data locally on the device and does not use iCloud.

To Disable iCloud Syncing:

Open your device's system-level Settings app.
Tap your Apple Account (Name) at the top.
Select iCloud, then tap Show All or Saved to iCloud.
Find MyAFBase in the list of apps and toggle the switch to the OFF position.

Note: Disabling iCloud sync will confine your data exclusively to the physical device on which it was typed. If you lose or replace your device without an active backup, your entered data will be unrecoverable.

III. Controlling Location Permissions

Location is used only to show you on the Explore map. Weather, hours, and base content use the installation you pick in the base picker — not GPS.

The App may request Location when you open Explore map (My location / blue dot).
Your Choice: Location permission is optional. If you deny it, you can still select any Air Force installation from the searchable base picker, use tools, and see weather for that base.
On Android, granted location may be shared with the Google Maps SDK to draw your position. On iOS, it is shared with Apple Maps. MyAFBase does not store a GPS history on our servers.
To Revoke Access: iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > MyAFBase. Android: Settings > Apps > MyAFBase > Permissions > Location.

IV. System Notifications

The App provides smart alerts and reminders for critical milestones, fitness dates, and custom tasks.

Local Notifications: Because MyAFBase doesn't use push notification servers, reminders are generated locally by your device's operating system.
To Disable Notifications: If you wish to stop receiving reminders, you can turn off notification permissions at any time by navigating to Settings > Notifications > MyAFBase and toggling "Allow Notifications" to OFF.

V. Feedback & Communications

Submitting feedback or support requests is strictly voluntary. You are under no obligation to submit messages to us.

If you opt in, we collect the message you write, an optional email address if you want a reply, and app/OS/device/base metadata.
Submissions go to our project tracker so we can improve the App. This is not a private, privileged, or confidential channel.
Do not submit PII, CUI, classified, or OPSEC-sensitive details.
You may leave the email address field blank if you do not require a response.
